Life after mortgage: Other income sources.

When you need the money… it’s a motivator.

This is largely the reason why you’ve been so successful thus far.

But, that motivation eventually wears off.

If you’re an entrepreneur who happens to be a Loan Officer, you’ll eventually get tired of just making money.

Entrepreneurs don’t just want to make money.

They want to make it by doing something that excites them.

Something that uses their unique abilities to solve a problem that only they can solve.

The truth is, as a Loan Officer, you’re replaceable.

If you disappeared, people would carry on just fine.

The entrepreneur inside you knows this… and it’s the reason you still feel unsatisfied.

Not because you need more money.

But because there’s more you need to do before your time is up.

Every top producer hits a wall where their motivation begins to tank.

You have 2 options when this happens:

  1. Power through, make more money and just hope that the money will bring you the satisfaction you’ve been longing for.
  2. Use your mortgage success like an ATM to finance this next phase of your life.

I’ll save you some time…

If you’re an entrepreneur who happens to be a Loan Officer, option one isn’t an option for you. Entrepreneurs look like they want money, but they only want it when they need it to do something more meaningful with their lives. This is why they are extremely motivated to make their first couple million.

But, beyond that…

Unless they have something they are working on beyond mortgage…

Their motivation is likely to continue to decrease progressively.

You’ve seen the entrepreneurs who are full of life. It’s not the money that fuels them, it’s the next business, project, or cause they are working towards.

I can personally speak to this. There’s a reason why I own so many different companies. It’s not the money (although that’s a nice side effect). It’s the legacy I’m leaving behind. The lives changed. The people impacted. The industries altered. And, the other people I inspire along the way.

You can stop at money. Most people do. And, most people are unfulfilled.

I’m not asking you to stop making money (I certainly haven’t).

I’m asking you to finish what you started.

The 18-year-old version of you dreamed of becoming someone who did something important. Something that mattered.

People won’t remember the number of transitions you closed.

Impact is measured by the number of people who will miss you when you’re gone.

I have used 8 different Loan Officers in my lifetime and I have no idea if any of them are still alive.

Is that impact?

Now, I’m not discrediting what you have learned. I owe everything I’m doing right now to my success as a licensed professional. The coaches, conferences, and mentors I met along the way. All of it was necessary to get where I am today.

And… had I settled for just money… It would have been the biggest regret of my life.
