LOs like shiny things

The shiny things always catch our attention.

It is exciting to add new things to your mortgage business.

New software that automates borrower communications.

A new book, “How to speed up your processors.”

Or, the newest lead generation product.

But, there is one problem…

Shiny is not the answer you are looking for.

Here you are a few months later… with all of the latest and greatest technology, lead gen, and productivity tools… Only to find yourself exactly where you started.

Stephen Covey once wrote, “Begin with the end in mind.” Sometimes you do need software and new strategies to increase productivity. However, starting with the end in mind will show you exactly what you need.

It is not the “latest and greatest” you are after. You are after the results that you think the latest and greatest will allow you to achieve.

It is easy to get distracted and stuck on a plateau. The shiny objects are attractive because they allow us to get excited again. You say to yourself, “This will be the thing that finally gets me some of my time back!” … Only to discover that more things rarely achieve the financial and time freedom that we were hoping for.

So, do this for me…

The next time you are tempted by something shiny and new… STOP and ask yourself:

What is the result that I am trying to achieve?
